SPIRITUAL EXERCISES 1985

First word: "Glorify my soul to the Lord!"

At the time of listening to that first word of Our Lady in Elizabeth's house.

May we, beloved children, not look elsewhere for these virtues, for nowhere can we find them better than in the life of our Mother.  May our souls, dear children, learn to glorify the Lord in this way.

I would that my soul would tend in these exercises to glorify the Lord in this way, and that you too, beloved child, would begin to glorify the Lord in this way.

May our life be so perfect that it spreads around it the light of Christ and causes all who see us to glorify the Lord. May that light be great, immense in you... the light of your works, so that all may praise the Father who is in heaven, through this life of glory which you give Him by good works.

Likewise...likewise did our Mother glorify the Lord with the growth of grace in her heart.  She glorified Him with her lips, she glorified Him with her heart, she glorified Him with virtues and she glorified Him with grace.

The grace...the grace that was growing in his heart.  That habitual grace, that sanctifying grace, that divine friendship was growing in her.   For grace is nothing else but a reflection of God in the soul, which, as it spreads in the soul, makes it live the very life of God.

Grace is the reflection of God in you, which spreads in your soul and makes you live the very life of God.  It is that light, that life of God in you, which is sprinkled... sprinkled in your whole soul, in your whole being and makes you live of God Himself, breathe in the breath, in the atmosphere of God.

And in Our Lady's soul... in Our Lady's soul, the grace of God lived from the first moment an intense life of heaven.  In Our Lady's soul this grace created, because it was so intense, an atmosphere of heaven.

Only he can taste heaven on earth who...who is in conscious and growing grace.  The amount of grace in the Immaculate Conception we cannot know, nor can we ever know it; but without doubt, without doubt, the faith of the Church teaches us that, from the first moment, that grace in the Virgin's beating heart, that grace was superior to that of all the angels and all the saints put together.

You can put the grace of the angels and the grace of the saints together, all together, and it cannot be compared to the grace that Our Lady received from the very moment of her conception.  That is why she is Queen of angels and Queen of all saints.

And so we want to learn to glorify God, just as our Mother did: by treasuring this grace in our souls as much as we can, by continually making this grace grow in our souls.  ~

Not only fleeing from mortal sin, but avoiding, fleeing from all deliberate venial sin, so that the grace of God may grow in me and I may be nourished with that savoury and hidden knowledge which gives me the growing grace, the wisdom of God, which is not acquired in books but only acquired in the knowledge of God through the growth of grace.

And we, then, want to glorify Him in this way...we want to glorify Him in this way: by treasuring up as much as we can that grace in our soul, by making it continually grow and develop in our soul.

We will thus be more children of our heavenly Father...we will thus be more children of our heavenly Father when grace grows more and more in our heart and in our life.

Then we want to glorify God with the fire of our heart, with burning lips, wrapped in flames, with the existence of our God-given nature, that we want to recognise Him with virtues and we want to recognise Him with growing grace; then we will be able to say: "My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord...my soul glorifies the Lord .... Magnificat ánima mea Dóminum".
