Good News for Traditional Catholics and Priests!

According to Rorate Caeli (which obtained the information from Cordialiter), Archbishop Piacenza is a "siriano," i.e., educated and formed in the tradition of the late Cardinal Giuseppe Siri (1906-1989). Others include Monsignor Guido Marini, Papal Master of Ceremonies. He was ordained by Cardinal Siri in 1969.

Very interesting.
His Holiness certainly dispatched Cardinal Hummes as soon as he could.
He also appointed someone out of one of the most conservative traditions still extant in the Church to put his policies on the priesthood into effect. In the wake of the clerical sexual abuse "crisis" of this year, such an appointment certainly augurs well. Look for increased emphasis on tradition in seminaries, not simply in the use of Latin or the traditional Latin Mass, but in formation. Just saying you love Jesus isn't going to be enough.
Moreover, Archbishop Piacenza used to be the President of the Pontifical Commission for the Cultural Heritage of the Church (2003-2007).
