The "Sistine Chapel" of Mexico City

The "Sistine Chapel" of Mexico City

The canons sacristy of the Metropolitan Cathedral is of great artistic, cultural and historic merit.

An impressive acheivement that has been accomplished with great skill.

This triumph is a fascinating mix of Gothic, Baroque and more.

A tour de force rich with symbolism and deep meaning.

The Cardinal Archbishop of the Metropolitan See of Mexico City, standing in this same room, described it to me as the "Sistine Chapel" of Mexico.  It is truly a work of art.  He also shared that once upon a time the tilma of St. Juan Diego was kept here for public veneration.
